Okay... great big Christmas post... my first one. Which kind of merges into a whole status Ive been thinking about in terms of my first year on FB. I think I joined on the 28th? So here goes. I cant describe the affection Ive found myself feeling for a great deal of you here. Not just the people I already knew in meat space, but also, the new friends Ive made on FB - even a lot of those I havent met. What Im saying is... well... I love a whole bunch of you. Youre awesome. Im especially appreciative of those people who get my sense of humour, and know that, even when I find myself raging about something, I will listen, and possibly even change my mind. You people are awesome. This year has seen me connect with a bunch of people who Id lost touch with. People like Eric Light, Kookie Tinzel-Shooz and Linda Cathy Chezkake. And be in contact more with people who are truly, infinitely important to me like Baillie Lenny (#worstbestfriendeva). And to meet people who I hope will be forever in my future - the likes of Zephyr Edwards, Wayne Dalton, Gigi Higgins, Harvey Yeager.. theres a whole bunch of you out there. Dont take it as a snub if youre not listed there... Ive been enjoying Xmas eve with my brother in law and too much beer and am now on whiskey so I blame the drunkenness. There are a WHOLE lot of you who are awesome. Jane Cohen, Maartje Abbenhuis, Wiesje Steevensz-Abbenhuis, Nick Perham, Nick Perham, Fi Kirsten, Chris McKenzie - a whole bunch of people from a totally different life... And its seen me involved in roller derby, albeit from the sidelines. This ones a little difficult as I got a whole youre irrelevant type message just yesterday. Im looking forward to, dependent on the youre not a part of us! attitude that I sometimes come across, helping to create a positive and accepting atmosphere for NZ Roller Derby (those who know me know that I normally accomplish my goals on these fronts even if sometimes I sound disappointed in these matters). Its a goal... Somethings bothering me on this front but this isnt the place for it (Although, Ill add this little snipe: Someone coming out should *NEVER* be met with Burn the witch!. Its a deeply unsettling thing for me to be seeing even if I think theres a case to be answered). This is turning into a great big Im thankful post... You people reading this... youre awesome (Every time you see the word Awesome add an echo). This is long enough... you get it right? Youre awesome. Its Christmas and chances are there are quite a few of these for you to read though. So with that in mind... Youre awesome. P.S. Happy Solstice! :D Awesome.
