Okay, heres something new! After our ride each day, Sassy gets an extra meal of grain and some grazing time outside the pasture. During this time, I usually sit next to her and talk to my mother on the phone (good son, eh? ; ) Since Sassy likes music, when I cant get a hold of my mother, I play something for her on youtube. Her favorite song is Arizona by Mark Lindsay (youtube/watch?v=U5A7nuoR_9E). It seems to have a particularly relaxing effect on her somehow. At any rate, the last two times I have played it for her, something REALLY interesting has occurred. At the opening bars, she lifts her head, sighs, gets a distant look, and usually just goes back to grazing: but a week ago, three perfectly clear tears purled down her face. There was nothing wrong with her eye, and I had never seen her cry, but I wrote it off as a weird coincidence. I had not seen this again until today, when I played the song for her again. The exact same behavior: sigh, tender look, tears. Just three drops down her face, but this seems more than coincidence now. Has anyone ever heard of a horse being emotionally moved by a song?! (You can see where the first two tears came down and the third one forming... I cant shoot video and play the internet on my phone at the same time, but I have to get this on film somehow.)
