Okay, if you liked the page, you probably are used to this, but just let me rant about retro games for a second. First, Im going to address the camp that hates them because they believe they were all bad. Back in the day, programmers and designers were limited by the technical specs of old systems. This led them to have to be creative on how to make their game great without using technology as a crutch. Oh yes, for every good game there were a bunch of crap ones, but dont we have that exact same situation today? Besides, the origins of beloved franchises should still be seen by younger players. In order to appreciate a long running series, one should at least LOOK at the old games. You claim that the graphics are bad, but youre not looking at the overall aesthetic on how it fits together. Golden Axe on genesis looks a million times better than that modern Golden Axe because of the overall world design, no matter the graphic capabilities. So shut up and accept that retro games can still be enjoyed today. Now, to you who think retro games are holy, we have to talk about the difficulty curves you so desire. Trial and error ISNT good design. Reacting to stimuli put in front of you because the designers conveyed what would be there IS good design. Take two modern games in the retro style: Super Meat Boy and AVGN Adventures. Super Meat Boy is the better game because it conveys everything the way it should with the level design and the order you play the levels. AVGN Adventures requires you to keep dying because it throws things at you from out of nowhere. Oh, and keep in mind, a lot of old school games were designed by the same people who designed games in the arcade, so most retro games were designed to be unfair so you would keep feeding the machine quarters. There, both sides can now shut the hell up because both sides of you are WRONG.
