Okay, it has been a few days since I have had a chance to truly document whats up, so here it is. I am finally home from hospital, sent home literally with a pharmacy of meds. They did cut me open (laparoscopic failed) and performed surgery to remove all the coagulated fluid from my chest cavity and yes, I have some pretty cool scars on my right side. While I have been following the orders to the letter, I also am keeping myself active and doing a lot of walking to keep my lungs working while trying my best not to overdo it. Got to spend my first night back with my son which was awesome, but alas he is gone for holiday weekend with his mom so I am alone once again. Thank god for football season I guess. I wish to thank all of those that found the time to shoot me a text, a FB message or even those that stopped by to see me at either hospital during my 16 day tenure. It means a great deal to me that you kept me in your prayers and thoughts while I was down and out. A guy I hadnt seen in at least 20 years, Jon Martin stopped to see me to share great memories. While there are many to mention and lord knows I am NOT looking to offend, I have three people that I have to single out as they went above and beyond in my opinion. First one is Peggy Burgess. The morning the ambulance came for me she was quick to respond and make me feel comfortable that Logan was taken care of and Peggy checked in 3-4 times a day to see how things were going, even when at my worst. I cannot emphasize how much your friendship showed thru this Peggy and I simply think you are an amazing lady in which I am indebted for an eternity. Secondly my sister Jennifer Edwards Muscarella who is a PA @ SB Mercy. While laying in Medina hospital dazed and confused she answered each and every text/phone call to make sure I was getting the proper treatments and in the end, I was transferred to her employer and she did every single thing she could to ensure I was on the right track. And I am fairly certain she enjoyed the idea of sticking a 10 needle into my chest cavity to drain out the fluid! What sister wouldnt love that??? Jenni, I love you and shall be forever grateful. FInally...the rock. The sole person that put up with an absolute ton of shit, seeing me go from miserable asshole to warm and fuzzy. Debbie Marando went WAY ABOVE AND BEYOND for me. You never think to pack a bag when an ambulance hauls you away as you dont know how long your gone. So being in dire need of a change of boxers at the VERY least, she made a trip to see me in Medina and then did an inventory of what I needed and went to the Wal-Mart in Albion to get me some proper supplies.Even the food, she we cheated on the hospital diet a few times, but it is our secret. She did every single thing I asked for and then even did stuff I didnt ask for. Example...being her own little Drill Sergeant when it was time for me to suck it up and eat the pain as opposed to eating the pain meds that I begged for. She fought for me and fought with me, all for the greater good, which meant me getting outta the hospital. We battled, we shared the bed and we beat our share of nurses/aides together. You showed me the amazing side of you and you shall forever be a one of the greatest friends I have ever had. I Love you chickie... Again, thanks to EVERYONE that reached out to me and I hope yall keep praying for me as while yes indeed I am home, I am nowhere near 100% yet. Sincerely, Jeffrey Scott Edwards
