Okay, lets wash some of the mud off. The new caribou closures effective immediately are: Whistlers Creek (now part of the Tonquin closure) and the whole west side of the Maligne road starting at the Signal parking lot, past Maligne lake to join up with the Brazeau closure. Trails that are in this closed area include: Signal fireroad, Watchtower, all the creeks, (including Jeffrey), Shangrila, Skyline Trail, Bald Hills, Lorraine, Mona Lakes, Moose Loop, Lovatt Scout, Maligne Pass Trail,Agnes Creek, Little Shovel Pass, and Evelyn Connector. Area that is still open: the east side of the Maligne Road. Trails include: Summit, Jacques, Surprise Valley, Opal Hills, Mary Schaeffer Loop. Some wilderness/backcountry skiing elsewhere: JNP, Wilcox Pass, Fryatt, Big Bend BNP, Parkers Ridge, and Nigel Pass. BC, Fitzwilliam, Yellowhead Mtn. Valemount We need your help to expand our small list of options.. We dont know much about these options, and thats where you come in. Please broaden your skiing and snowshoeing outings, start exploring and help us to bring the views, and skiing into the sunshine back into JNP. Loni
