Okay, self reflection in a public space time. This is a pretty brilliant list of things we already know. It helps to see them in a concise list with references. Im guilty of the following and can attest to their profound effect on my happiness levels: Retail Therapy - I still have $50 worth of matching towels that I need to return because as soon as I got back to my relatively meager accommodations I realized they were the most valuable thing in the room. Ive got to do a better job of prioritizing. Binge Drinking - Man, this is a big one for me. I cant tell you how many days Ive wasted in depression because of the night before. There is certainly no harm in having a few drinks with friends. There are great times to be had and drinking is a great social lubricant. The problem comes when the good time doesnt seem to stop until you slam into a wall of headache and lethargy the next morning. That lethargy then snowballs into so many other things on the list of unhappy habits. Eating Poorly - Sometimes a product of being lazy. I can tell you from recent experience I felt waaay better when I was eating and training for Warrior Dash than I have since. I, of course, made excuses to justify Taco Bell but its simply not worth the time saved. This goes back to prioritizing and time management. Not Following Through - I seem to be constantly surrounded by good intentions and incomplete projects. They are a constant reminders of things left to do. Im great at working for clients. Im not so great at working for myself. Jumping to Conclusions / Holding Grudges / Worrying What Others Think - I lumped these together because they are kind of the same thing for me. Even at 32, Im often an insecure teenager when it comes to things. Do they like me? Why not? Could I have done something better? Anyhow, I know putting this kind of stuff on Facebook is a social faux pas, but I feel better when I publicly acknowledge things. Keeping them to myself is cancerous. Whats your list?
