Okay, so I finally met the challenge from Ankit Yadav. Here are the ten books that changed my life and a quick review: 1.) Napoleon Hill, Think and Grow Rich: A book way ahead of its time. Probably the original Secret and implicit work in Subjective Reality though Hill might not have known it at the time. 2.) Robert Ringer, Million Dollar Habits: A good place to start if you are exploring values you and others value. 3.) Bertrand Russell, A History of Western Philosophy: Changes the way I view individual and societal beliefs for ever. If there was a book that taught me to challenge assumptions and even facts, this is it. 4.) Michael Gerber E-Myth: Changes the way I think of entrepreneurship and businesses in general. Entrepreneurs must learn to lead and manage as well and Gerber gives a solid approach 5.) David Allen, Getting Things Done: After a career of being a disorganised mess, this was my first glimpse of intelligent organsation and prioritisation. A very thorough approach and system. 6.) Leo Babauta, Zen to Done: Allens Getting Things Done seemed to rely on maintaining a system, even to a fault (and ironically not getting things done). Babauta did a very good job of simplifying the concept to where it works in the real world and you get important things done. I would recommend reading Allens book as well so you can add things as you feel you need. 7.) Ramit Sethi, I Will Teach You To Be Rich: Ive read many finance books. This one is actionable and delivers. Anyone can make multiple time the cost of this book by following *just one* of action steps inside. 8.) Tim Ferriss, Four Hour Work Week: This changed how I look at my life plan and reinforces business theory learned in E Myth. One of the books that led me to dismiss the Corporate America model of success. 9.) Steve Pavlina, Personal Development for Smart People: Along with the several thousand articles on his web site, I use these concepts to look at the issues in my life. Warning: This book will change your life - if youre happy with where you are at, just best leave it alone ;) 10.) Stephen Covey, Seven Habits of Highly Effective People: Changed how I develop perspective on issues, where I should be putting my focus. Bonus: 11.) Laurence Boldt, Zen and the Art of Earning a Living: Changed the way I view my relation with society and the planet and what I should be doing here versus what society says. Great book on job hunting too. Im not calling on anyone specifically, so feel free to self assign the challenge if youre so moved! :D
