Okay, so I have to answer this question is Psychology class. Tell me what you think? I hope he is not an atheists or I am surely getting an F....lol.... but seriously what would you say. Can perception occur without sensation? pg 114 This is a catch twenty-two question to me. Sensation is defined on page eighty-eight in our book, Psychology (Hockenbury & Hockenbury) as: The process of detecting a physical stimulus, such as, light, sound, heat, or pressure (by hitting receptors). This is caused from the transformation becoming an electrical impulse, so the brain can read them. Then they send it back to the certain receptor or receptors, so it can send the signal back for the action or feeling to take place. The way I see it, no it cannot from a scientific stand point as it states on page 114, due to facts being unable to be verified through forms of study. It is more like, a supernatural thing taking place with little or no explanation on how or why to many from a scientific standpoint. Merriam Webster defines Science as: “the state of knowing” (which our public schools today try to push all studies of observational and historical studies as “science” which is wrong in my opinion. Historical “science” is from millions of years ago sometimes. Now how do we know that?) . Merriam Webster defines ESP as: “the ability to know things such as what another person is thinking or what will happen in the future.” Merriam Webster defines Perception as: “the way you think about or understand someone or something.” Theyre not the same but they are related in many ways. As a Non-Denominational follower of Jesus Christ, my opinion is that ESP cannot be known or used by normal use of the human senses is true. (Unless it is through the heart, which is where I believe God lives). I don’t believe like most though in the Science field. I love Science, it is my favorite subject and Math is my second (I am a nerd I know). I am a Science Creationist believer. I believe we only get “ESP” from the Lord, as a gift from God. In my belief, when, how and who he wants to give it to, are those who are chosen. I don’t believe in Psychics, but I do believe in Prophets deeply. It is not something we can use all the time, but when God feels the need to give it to us and when.
