Okay so one thing Ive never understood is that some people (mainly conservative republicans) rag on high taxes being unamerican and unpatriotic. Taxes are essentially investing in your country. How is providing funding for your country even remotely unpatriotic? Its so backward it baffles me. A few qualifiers: I understand that the US was established because of disagreement on taxation. But that was due to a lack of representation in government, not the mere presence of taxes. Also, I agree that tax money is not always spent efficiently, but that does not mitigate this concept.
