Okay so some of you (mainly family members who feed us - TopicsExpress

Okay so some of you (mainly family members who feed us occasionally) wanted to know what our allowed meal plans will be for the next few weeks as we try our best to follow the Feingold Elimination Diet. (Starting this weekend) Here is my best attempt at an explanation...Back in April we eliminated all dyes, processed foods, and preservatives and saw an VAST improvement in many areas of our kids health. Then I fell into a slump and got off track. This was just a piece of the Feingold diet, and since we saw such a great improvement we have decided to go all the way and follow the program to the T. So we are eliminating all foods AT FIRST that contain Salicylate Acid, which is a natural chemical plant based foods produce. Kids who are reactive to dyes and so on usually have a few reactions to goods with moderate to high levels of this. So we will be cutting out all tomatoes, all fruit except pears, peanut butter, coconut, olive oil, honey, peppers, snow peas, jelly and jams, pork products, hot dogs, sausages, all nuts except Cashews, and condiments. EVENTUALLY we will move onto stage 2 and start to reintroduce this foods one at a time to see if any reactions were to occur. If not then we just need to find the balance or level that each of our bodies can take of Salicylate Acid and go from there. My biggest concerns are how much my kids love fruits, pizza, and nuts...especially PBJ Sandwiches. But they are troopers willing to try this out as a family and see what comes of it. It will not be easy that is for sure. We all have to be retrained when it comes to anything to do about food. WISH US LUCK!
