Okay, so this isnt easy to share, but I have always been, and will - TopicsExpress

Okay, so this isnt easy to share, but I have always been, and will continue to be, completely honest here. As previously mentioned, twice so far this year my daughters asked me if they could buy dessert at school. Both times I said yes (because we strive to have balance as best we can with this and other indulgences that are usually outside of school). Apparently, after seeing how easy it was to buy something in the lunch line, my mischievous 1st grader got the idea she could very easily buy food on other days whenever she wanted. So you can imagine the look on her face when she got a surprise visit from mommy at lunch today just after shed purchased a bag of Sun Chips and a chocolate milk. I dont even know what to say - I did not see this coming at all. I mean I said yes both times she asked to buy something, and aside from the extras shed been purchasing (I now have the school record and just about all $9 in her account is gone), she was still eating the lunch I packed, so I just didnt have a clue. And she obviously wasnt eager to confess or anything. She also broke a big rule at home this week (completely unrelated to food) so we clearly have some dishonesty issues we are dealing with at the moment. I am just not sure how to completely separate the fact that we are disappointed she went behind our backs without permission - not necessarily because she ate junk food. The last thing I want to do is give my child a complex, but at the same time its my job to teach her right from wrong (as well as whats good for her and not). Aye yae yae...I obviously do not have all the answers. What a day thanks to my precious baby girl.
