Okay this is why we need a spay/neuter grant for Atacosa County! ALL THESE BABIES (and more) and going to be up for adoption soon as I get them spay/neutered. Today I had a GREAT day of adoptions at our friends Petsbarn on Pleasanton and Military drive. (Incidentally, they also have a donation tote for our friends Give a Dog a Home, German Shepherd Dog Rescue as well) We found GREAT homes for our animals at Hope For Dogs! Strange thing about it was..NONE of the people that adopted lived in San Antonio! LOL! most lived near and around us! I have to say a lot of the people that were turned down wanted a puppy the was NOT spay/neutered. Needless to say I had a great time explaining that we have so many dogs because the loose ones breed like wildfire! I did get on a rant or two, but Tallis was quick to calm me down. After our event we went to Vicki Doesherbest Eckert and helped with MORE puppies waiting to get health checked, de wormed, and vaccinated before the BIG operation to remove their baby making ability. It is really hard to get work done over there because you end up playing with the dogs, i find it impossible to resist when a dogs brings you a Kong (tm) and really wants you to toss it, or just wants to lick your face and get a back scratch. Luckily my volunteers from the event tagged along to help us prep puppies and remove all the dead ticks. I also got to meet so facebook friends in person, and offer them a helping hand as well, so all in all it was a GREAT day! I dont do 20 adoptions at once, but I really dont care as long as I find great homes for my great dogs!
