Okay...we all make mistakes...but this one...was really like...REALLY??? It was colossal in its skid row delivery and one for the books. In 15 yrs of doing conducting my business...I have NEVER...had this occur. I guess Ive been lucky. So upcoming brides...please take note! Had a brides mother leave me a message and instead of the usual printed invitation that I recieve (in the mail) asking me (the wedding officiant) to please join them for the wedding reception...I get a phone call from the brides mother, very politiely (kudos at least for that)...asking if I require a lunch meal on the day of the wedding...Me? Require? Thank you but no! In this day and age...manners have gone soo sideways that even people my age do not know proper ediquette. My God...what does the future hold if people my age do not know proper manners. I shouldnt let it bother me and I find the manner in which I was asked...insulting to the highest degree. So for all your brides out there...please be cognisant of the following... Its traditional to invite the officiant to the reception -- That said, he/she is most likely used to receiving invitations and is probably also used to politely declining or just staying for cocktails to wish the couple well one last time.Be sure to send a formal invitation and invite his or her spouse as well. Traditionally, they are seated in a position of honor at the parents table at both occasions. With that said...I always politely decline. But to be asked in such a manner as I was today was/is...insulting. It was as if I was asked to go to the trough. Tackyyyyyyy!!!! Thank you for allowing me to rant momentarily. This has been a public service announcement! :P Im over it now. :)
