Oke Dokey...lets talk karaoke. Today gives us the opportunity to reflect on the 2014 New Plymouth Club Open Karaoke Quest. And what a competition it was. We have been in and around karaoke for over 18 years both here in NZ & overseas so weve got a pretty good idea of how everything works. We have seen & been involved in many competitions over the years...some good and not so good competitions but this one is in a league of its own. This competition was undoubtedly the best that we have ever been involved with. From the hosts, the New Plymouth Club, to the hardworking Paula & Wanda, to the NP Club staff, to all the judges, to all the singers and to all the amazing finalists it all came together to give everyone the Grand Final that will be remembered and talked about for a long long time. It has also set incredibly high standards for future competitions to strive toward. Talk is that this will be an annual event so those of you who have been involved must tell those who havent been involved to take part. But most of all we need to reflect upon those people who made last night so memorable...the 12 outstanding finalists...Aileen, Lavinia, Don, Pinky, Tira, Mike, Angelica, Hohepa, Chris, Kuvarji, Luke and James. Each and every one of you are an absolute credit to yourselves, your friends and supporters and importantly your craft...music and singing. As with every competition there is a winner and last night Mike Harris was that person. Huge congratulations to Mike but also to Tira (2nd), Don (3rd) and all the other singers for making it a night to remember. From us to everyone involved...thank you, thank you, thank you...we have been blessed to be associated with the competition and look forward to bringing you more in the future....much love Berna & Ray.
