"Oklahoma is ground zero for tornadoes for geographic reasons. The state is located precisely where warm air from the Gulf of Mexico collides with colder weather from the west and north. Many scientists wonder if the recent increase in concentrations of greenhouse gases in Earth’s atmosphere—and the extra heat they trap—intensified this particular extreme weather phenomenon and will continue to worsen other tornadoes as the season continues through August."
