Old Black Roller (480p) © 2014 Grant Maloy Smith Special 480p (medium resolution) preview video from the album Dust Bowl, coming in 2015. The official version will be released in full HD. Every song on this album is set in the time and place of the Dust Bowl, right in the center of America in the 1930s. A drought that lasted most of a decade, combined with over-farming led to huge storms of dirt and dust rising up and choking the people and the landscape. Countless folks died from pneumonia and other problems. When a black roller hit you could be 10 steps from your front door and not be able to find it. Combine all of that hardship with the Great Depression, and its hard to imagine how tough those people were just to survive. Old Black Roller is sung from the point of view of an Oklahoman, who calls directly to the storm, as if it were alive. As if it were a monster. Its one of the most dramatic moments on the album. The amazing finger-style guitar is Peter Janson, an amazing artist from Boston. The album Dust Bowl will be released in 2015.
