(Old Christmas Poem) A Pocket Of Life One day, on a wintry December day Earth was, in a bittersweet stiff way While warmed, far beneath its nadir Sounds in the air, was Christmas cheer Trees stood naked, amid silent barks Amid snows baldness, mottled by grassy arcs Timid evergreens bragged, of pinery cotton candies Whilst licentious weeds, entertained their knees Trenches lay cozy, amidst stickery fur fashions Waterways lay trapped, in frozen passions Winter breezes promoted, the trees fondling As flowers died beneath, never again to sing Summer had fed, the earth’s eager sharp tongue Left to lie frozen, amidst its cynical rocky dung Frenzied flames, cause candles to shed warm tears Building their foundation, then their lost careers Santa stood silent, amidst his red and white Whilst his black, restrained his heavy delight Surrounding Santa, pine perfumed pineapple cones Whilst branches misplaced mittens, tendered earth moans Snowflakes joined in harmony, amid his tracks Offering grasslands many, memorable snacks Earth does not know of time, as Santa does It only recognizes the doldrums, abuzz Ribbons and bows, a rose lies amidst winter’s docket Santa kindly places it, within his fleece-lined pocket The future As I see it now, is not within angel’s sandals But for now A lost and wary, gypsy rose’s heavenly petals One day to die Today lives Merry Christmas A day to celebrate life
