Old Teo Kee 老张记 Pig Haslet Soup was rather popular in Toa Payoh back in the 80s and early 90s in Toa Payoh. The founder was forced to retire in the late 90s due to age and deteriorating health. His sons, despite knowing his recipe, did not want to continue his craft, as each had their own employment. Some years ago, the old Mr Teo passed away... A few months ago, Trovithy Teo, decided to resurrect his fathers heritage, and 3 days ago he started this stall at Blk 110, Yishun Ring Road. I was there for lunch today, and found that the pig haslet soup tasted exactly the same as that of Uncle Teos 20 years ago... except the dipping chillie. I was so happy to see Elvis Teo, the 16 years old son of Trovity, helping at the stall. Elvis told me, he wants to learn his Grandfathers craft and keep it going. I told him it is not easy to be a hawker, and he answered me, Uncle, both you and my grandfather can do it, i think i can do it too. wow! Singapore Street Food Heritage Got Hope liao...
