Olivers Story Oliver went missing on October 6th, when his owners - TopicsExpress

Olivers Story Oliver went missing on October 6th, when his owners were travelling from Newfoundland to Ontario. It was assumed Oliver went missing on the ferry, and their family and friends put out a plea to keep an eye out. They waited in North Sydney hoping for news of Oliver, and not even a sighting. Eventually with a heavy heart they had to continue on their journey. On October 7th I was contacted about him being lost on the ferry. I spoke to several people who were either travelling on the boat or worked on it asking them to contact me asap if they saw him. Marine Atlantic had my number, but after a week or so I assumed Oliver must have hitched a ride on a vehicle and could have been in Nebraska for all we knew. One month later SCR started getting reports of a stray in Mouse Island...at that time, as we usually are, we were bursting with kitties and werent in any position to help him. Lots of people were helping this guy along the way though. Several people I know were feeding him and messaging me, posting on classifieds etc. We all knew he must have been owned because he was so friendly. He didnt have a collar, then at one point he did, so we assumed he really did have an owner and was just a wanderer. Bring on December. Oliver eventually found his way to Hopes house. Hope had a front door that sometimes liked to come open from the wind. One day she returned to find a stray kitty sleeping on her bed. Hope, like many before posted some pics on our group and other local groups, but nobody seemed to know where this cat belonged. At this point we were scrambling because Hope was in the process of moving and with a baby due, and pets of her own wasnt really in the position to keep kitty. A foster home was found, SCR was going to get kitty vetted. Bring in Krista, who happened to spy a posting by Cathy about this kitty. Krista suggested this could be Oliver, several people compared pics and everyone agreed it was certainly possible, and would certainly fit. I then contacted the lady who had messaged me way back in October, who then passed on my info onto the owners daughter. She called me, I sent pics, and she confirmed it was definitely Oliver. Amazingly enough, after 3 months visiting in Ontario, his owners were currently driving back to NL!!! After horrible weather and driving conditions, delayed ferries etc they finally arrived in PAB this evening! Happy New Year everyone! As a rescuer I really dont think I could ask for a better start to the new year! Audrey and Owen said how much they appreciated all the people in Port Aux Basques for coming together to help their boy. They were so grateful, and Audrey sobbed to see him again safe and well. This is their happy reunion :) To everyone who fed him, allowed him in for a spell,to those who recognized who he was and what he was, thank you.You did good! ps the last photo is their other kitty Maggie...I fell in love with her, just a sweetie.
