Olivia arrived home safe and sound. She had a very moving experience. She said her favorite part of the retreat was the confession part. I was very surprised at that comment until she explained what they did. A little different from a normal confession. They had to write down their sins that they were going to confess, then each person hammered a nail into the cross, confessed their sins to the priest, then took the paper with them on it, burned the paper and then placed a flower over the nail on the cross. They then walked to the dock and sat under the stars looking out in to the water where they had a very large cross lit up. They then did their penance looking at the cross and stars. She said it was so moving! I was happy to hear this coming from the girl that had dreaded this trip for weeks. On a side note, she read the love letter I wrote her and said that she was crying after just the first line. I am so glad that she came home talking about how great her experience was.
