O ano passado foi-lhe diagnosticado um tumor muito agressivo e raro, existem cerca de cem casos como este em todo o mundo´. Depois de quase um ano em que fez radio e quimioterapia assim como duas cirurgias, voltaram a aparecer metástases nos pulmões. Já não pode fazer mais tratamentos e a única opção que tem neste momento é tentar fazer o tratamento com células dendríticas na Alemanha, que é muito dispendioso. O tratamento é urgente, tem já a primeira consulta dia 28 de Novembro e o tempo é muito curto para reunir tanto dinheiro e como devem calcular a família está desesperada. Neßelhut and Dr. Marx who kindly asked me to send you some general information about the immunotherapy with dendritic cells, which you will find attached. Based on published data and our own experience a dendritic cell therapy can be successful for many types of cancer even in advanced stages of the disease with response rates round about 20% - 40% (including complete remission, partial remission, stable disease or mixed responses). Since 2007 we started to combine the dendritic cells with an oncolytic virus called NDV (Newcaste Disease Virus), showing very promising results (see attached info), especially in brain tumors. For patients from foreign countries we can start with a leukapheresis in order to collect a large number of leukocytes, which can be kept frozen until use. Thus, there is no need for another blood specimen collection for further vaccinations. This reduces the length of stay in Duderstadt, but causes also additional costs. Of course we can do also a blood specimen collection of 120 ml blood, which is sufficient for one vaccine. If we do so, we have to repeat this for every further vaccine. The patient has to calculate 8 to 10 days for the initial stay in Germany for the leukapheresis (or blood specimen collection) and the first vaccine. The continuing vaccines will be given once a month (two days stay in Duderstadt if we have harvest the cells via the leukapheresis or again 8 days for a blood specimen collection and the vaccine). Unfortunately, at the moment we have a waiting list for the leukapheresis of about 4 weeks. If you want to have an earlier appointment, we recommend to start with a blood specimen collection. In this context can you please send us a brief summary (English or German language) of the medical history, the current medication and an actual red and white blood cell count. Please, also complete the attached questionnaire and send it back. At first we recommend four vaccination at regular intervals of four or five weeks. After this a restating is recommend to check whether there is a response or not. Further therapy options are local hyperthermia and whole body hyperthermia, ozon-therapy and various supplements. Please note, that we are not a clinic. The treatment will be done on an out-patient basis, only. Normally patient stay in a hotel or apartment. Patient (you) should be fit for travel and for staying in a hotel/apartment without needing daily medical clinical service. The tentative costs are: 1. leukapheresis (hemapheresis): 3538,92Euro 2.
