Omar hopes for no more ceasfire violations Srinagar, Oct 27: With no reports of fresh ceasefire violations along the Line of Control(LoC) and International Border (IB) on Saturday, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today expressed hope that the calm in the region will prevail. “After 12 days the border has finally fallen silent and people have been able to sleep at home without fear. Let’s hope it stays this way now,” Omar wrote on micro-blogging site Twitter. Over 130 ceasefire violations have been reported so far this year, the highest in the past eight years. Since October 14, the ceasefire violations have left two soldiers dead and caused injuries to 18 people. The Chief Minister, who visited the border villages of RS Pura that have been hit heavily by firing from across the border on Friday, had expressed deep concern over the ceasefire violations. “This (ceasefire violation) is in nobody’s interest but only endangers life of people in border areas,” Omar said. He had also hit out at Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif saying such violations cannot be without his consent.
