On 11/27/14 at around 1:07 PM, a 43 year old female from Scappoose died in an industrial accident. She was working along side her partner when the accident took place. A leaking flammable gas bottle was ignited when one of the two were grinding on a piece of metal. The female died instantly of massive trauma during the explosion. Emergency crews located and closed the flammable gas bottle upon arrival. The property in which this accident took place is leased as a working repair shop by the other person she was working along side. The identity of the female is not being released until proper notification to next of kin is made. The Columbia County Sheriffs Office and OSHA are both involved with this investigation. No other injuries were reported in this tragic incident.
