On 11/4/2013 a residential burglary occurred in the 600 block of Mt. Vernon Avenue between the hours of 1:30 pm and 2:30 pm. Reports indicate that prior to the burglary, an unknown male driving a cream colored vehicle pulled into a driveway of a nearby residence and knocked on the door. The homeowner answered, at which time the male said he was looking for someone else and must be at the wrong house before driving off. Haddonfield Police encourages everyone to report suspicious activity in their neighborhood immediately to 9-1-1. Suspicious activity includes someone knocking at your door who asks for directions, who asks for a name of someone who doesnt reside in your home, or who asks to do odd jobs around your home. Many burglars knock on target homes first in an attempt to determine if someone is home prior to breaking in. If someone does answer the door, they will offer a cover story as to why they knocked on your door.
