On 12/15 after returning to station from a small woods fire, firefighter Stephen DePrinzio was notified by a driver of heavy smoke coming from a wooded area south of the fire station on 331. Firefighters Boyett and Jacobs stood by the station while FF DePrinzio investigated, when arriving on scene the tones were struck for a woods fire at that location. FF DePrinzio pulled up and found the fire to be involving a large pile of tires, 5 vehicles and 4 trailers. FF DePrinzio took 331 command and upgraded the response and requested Mutual aid from Opp Fire Department as well as tankers from Babbie and Union Grove. Alabama Forestry and Florala Fire were also added to the response. The fire was brought under control in about an hour and units cleared the scene and command terminated after 2 1/2 hours. Thank you to Opp, Babbie, Union Grove and Florala for your assistance. Units making response were. Onycha Engine 1, Engine 2 and unit 4. Opp Engine 10, Florala Engine 5 and Brush 6 and Tankers from Babbie and Union Grove.
