On 6/14/2014, Officers with the Leesville Police Department, along with the Leesville Fire Department, and Acadian Ambulance were dispatched to a structure fire involving a vehicle on Thompson Street. Preliminary investigation revealed that a 2005 Mazda Tribute was travelling south on Kings Road. For unknown reasons, the driver lost control of the vehicle causing it to travel through the fence and into the unoccupied residence. The vehicle and residence were then engulfed in flames. The driver was pronounced dead on the scene. Impairment of the driver is unknown at this time, but toxicology tests are pending. This incident remains under investigation. The Leesville Police would like to thank the Leesville Fire Department, Acadian Ambulance and the Louisiana State Fire Marshall’s Officer for their quick response and assistance in this incident.
