On April 12 at 2 PM we will be hosting a panel discussion with representatives from ProLiteracy, Teach for America, Literacy Volunteers of Greater Hartford and Pratham, to discuss the effects of illiteracy on people in their day-to-day lives and in the social sphere. We believe this panel will help provide us with direction for what the situation of illiteracy is presently whether domestically (between 40 and 70% of people in Hartford, CT are illiterate) or worldwide as well as a road-map for changes needed to be made in Guinea-Bissau as the country takes positive steps toward stability in an upcoming political election. The results of the panel will be shared with the Ministry of Education in Guinea-Bissau. Watch for the posting of that video here.
