On August 19th Champaign Police Officers attempted to arrest a individual for passing counterfeit money at a local business. While struggling to arrest the suspect, who was already on parole for the Aggravated Battery of a Police Officer, the suspect bit Officer Shipley on the arm, causing significant damage to his arm. Officer Shipley showed great restraint in the amount of force used to get this suspect to release his bite. Officer Shipley has been unable to return to full duty since this incident and we wish him a speedy recovery.
