On August, 28, 2014, at 5:35 pm, Hemet Officers responded to the 1200 block of east Florida Avenue, in reference to a call of a fraud in progress at a check cashing business. As the initial officer arrived on scene, the officer was directed to a female suspect, accompanied by a male suspect, attempting to cash a fraudulent check. As the officer began investigating the crime, the male suspect attempted to flee. The male suspect was stopped by the officer and a struggle ensued. As the officer was attempting to detain the suspect, the suspect attempted to pull the officer’s duty weapon from his holster. The officer immediately reacted and was able to subdue and detain the suspect as other officers arrived on scene. The female and male suspect, were both arrested for attempting to cash a stolen check from a local medical office, including additional charges. Both suspects were later transported to Riverside County Jail. The female suspect is being held on $5000.00 bail, the male suspect is being held on $250,000.00 bail. Arrested: Amanda Dunaway, 24 years old, Arizona resident. Charges: 470(d) PC, 496(a) PC, 459 PC. Arrested: Carleton Emerich, 49 years old, Arizona resident. Charges: 470(d) PC, 496(a) PC, 459 PC, 148(d)(1) PC.
