On Beltane Eve we lit the cauldron and placed it at the end of our driveway to signal our participation in the season of increasing heat and passions, and the start of our celebrations - and then we went to bed.... The wheel has turned again and the Goddess brought us a magic afternoon and evening on Saturday as we gathered at an idyllic valley setting for a private ritual. Focused on the joyous celebration of life, we drank rosemary infused wine and ate popcorn as we prepared our Beltane-pole. Singing and dancing we wove together the many-coloured strands of community and love. Beltane is the season of rising sap when the maiden and young buck unite to ensure fertility of the land. This coming together of universal opposites finds its central balance in Beltanes sacred union. The spiritual rite of the heiros gamos or symbolic merging of male and female elements was very powerful and sensual. Later we drew question cards, carefully prepared to make us question our understanding of the season. And of course we feasted and laughed together, and drew closer to each other as we knew we would. Blessed Be. Sadly we had to postpone lighting the fabulous fire wheel we had prepared to roll down the hill due to the rising wind, but full moon is fast approaching so we will do it then. Keep lighting your internal fires and bring passion to your whole world.
