On Day 3 of this second opportunity that I have, thanks to Dorie - TopicsExpress

On Day 3 of this second opportunity that I have, thanks to Dorie Cronin, I continue with a few more images about teapots, still from one of our Museum visits. Unfortunately I did not take notes about these pieces, so I can only show the image. If anyone recognize any of them and can label them, please do so. A few interesting facts about teapots: Potters are always challenged by teapots. Not only is it a symbol of hospitality, but since it has so many design elements that needs to work together practically as well as aesthetically, it stay a challenge. There is an extra challenge for porcelain potters, since we deal with clay that may move in the firing and tend to gravitate towards the kiln shelf. I use the 30 degree rule when I create teapots, so that if the clay do want to go down, it fall just enough to end in the right spot. Tomorrow I will show some of my own teapots and talk about handles and spouts and lids. If you would like to know more about my thoughts about teapots, you can read the review that I wrote for Ceramics Monthly, October 2011, as well as the comments in my recent interview here: Zoneonearts.au With that I would like to call Lynne Meade to show her work. You will find strong forms, strong pattern and beautiful execution of great skill. Enjoy!
