On December 18th I was asked to participate in a panel discussion - TopicsExpress

On December 18th I was asked to participate in a panel discussion on pretrial issues in Harris County, specifically dealing with the large number of pretrial detainees we house. On the panel was myself, Devon Anderson Harris County District Attorney, Adrian Garcia, Matt Alsdorf with the Laura and John Arnold Foundation, Tara Boh Klute the COO of Pre-Trial Services, Kentucky Administrative Offices of the Courts, and moderated by Marc Levin with the Texas Public Policy Foundation. One correction I want to make, I cited a number of $1-1.5 million for the cost of a District Court. That is the state cost. The total cost of a Criminal District Court is $4mill+ per year. The whole video is about an hour long and touches on many topic relevant to pretrial issues. My eight minutes starts just over 28 minutes in. Towards the end is a Q&A where Devon Anderson and I are asked most of the questions. Enjoy! youtu.be/_Ocptt1vUsk?t=28m45s
