On February 15, 2003, I gave two speeches at anti-war rallies in the Orlando area. (I was Executive Director of the Florida Council of Churches at that time.) In both speeches I observed quite explicitly that if we went to war in Iraq, we would generate more terrorism in the world than we could imagine; that we would destroy the country of Iraq, which, at that time was the most developed country in the area, with an excellent university system, health care, water and electricity, etc. I also observed that our military, the mightiest in the world did not know how to fight urban guerrillas and would be bogged down in endless and brutal combat, which would kill massive numbers of civilians. I also observed that the reasons for going to war were based entirely on lies (we had already heard Colin Powells lies at the UN and Cheneys lies everywhere). More than 15 million people around the world gathered that day to protest against the Bush/Cheney cabals war on Iraq. All in vain. And, unfortunately, my dire predictions have proven to be true. I did not mention Libya that day, but all of the above applied to that country later on as well.
