On February 1st, JulietteSpeaks will launch it’s first crowd funding program to support the Sega Girls School’s Anti-Ivory Club. With guidance from JulietteSpeaks, the girls have taken their activism to a new level. Starting with field trips to local animal reserves to educate themselves further on the species and how to protect them, they armed themselves with knowledge to begin their activism. First they made a short film about poaching (see link below), then they gave presentations at local schools to spread awareness about the killing of elephants and to encourage other students to start anti-ivory trade clubs. There is no limit to what these girls can do. Not only are they breaking cultural stereotypes about their capabilities as young women, but they are making a difference for a species that is dangerously close to extinction. All funds will go to the club for new projects in 2015. Please donate on February 1st at https://peerspring/project/protect-elephants-by-developing-youth-leaders/1/ Follow their progress and read about their previous achievements on JulietteSpeaks.org.
