On Finding Your by Way From Stiletto Heels, Parties , Bad Driving ,and The Tower of London I suppose if Idid not reside solely only between 601 North 4th and 571 Country Club Road and if I,occasionally took care to the apply my Minis brake pedal not only when approaching a light that (not even my vivid imagination could convince the office with the flashing blue lights was actually a dark shade of magenta) ,I might, be able to gather more information to share with you. But because my version of Hell is a pair of satin stilettos and the concoction of that ever popular and hideous tasting party accessory, the Martini, , seldom consumed but, but somehow, always spilled right done the front of the new dress Ive purchased for the affair, in simply dont get out much. Being an only child, I have become accustomed to my own company. I do not need large crowds filled with small talk to entertain me. Please dont misconstrue me, I love spending time with my patients and talking with them one on one. These encounters bring me joy and fulfill that deep need we must all labor to fulfill in order to connect with each other. This is the time that allows me, not only , to share professional advice and help cure illness, but, its a time to learn from others about them as I appreciate the inherent wealth that resides in each of us. On these days.Im not required to dress in uncountable clothing and practice my best fake smile while my feet scream from the unnatural confines of something Im conceived was designed during the days of the Inquisition. Compared to water torture and Bamboo shoots inserted beneath figure nails, these needle toed wonders are nothing. I love to look at these beautiful concoctions by the safety provided by my computer screen and I must admit how enviously I watch as some hostess glides across the floor with graceful effort while balanced on 6 inch heels, (but , then, as I recall, I was equally mesmerized, and a bit envious of the ingenuity reflected by Medieval the torture devices on display in the Tower of London when I visited there in 2008!) that something so horrific, yet effective, could have been constructed so many years ago was amazing to me, even though I knew its purpose was purely evil. Though much of this post is written by a jealous 50 something year old with arthritic feet and and a broken toe that Im convinced never healed properly, its really not about shoes or torture devices though they both have the ability to invoke a similar effect. Its about me and how your presence in my life has spruced up my internal fashionably to the point where stilettos and velvet just dont matter. My obsession with jewelry ( I should have been born a Christmas tree) ceases to matter when seated before you and honored by your presence as I feel touched by your confidence. God may have created gold and precious stone, but he never told us to cherish this wealth above the love we should feel toward our neighbor. After two years, and many lessons, I realizes how right He was to encourage us to value people, not things. Yes, I do spend a great dealing time by myself. You learn that when raised in the absence of siblings, and, yes, if I got out more, and perhaps motored more slowly, I might have more things to tell you. But then, I would not be me, now would I, and you would never be observed by eyes that have spent so much time looking inward enabling me to look outward with a clear, unobstructed view. No I m not special because of this, and itll be a few more years hopefully before I will become the crazy old cat (dog) lady on the corner where I live behind ivy covered brick. But, I do know that I would never have had the opportunity to have been moulded into a very different person. Sometimes, its what we dont see that inspires us to more diligently use what we all have inside. While the contents may be tapped differently, they are are there in each of us awaiting the revelation they require for the nurturing they crave. Peace. KB
