On Friday, September 19, 2014, the Unified Drug Enforcement Strike Team (UDEST) received information regarding a suspicious parcel that was destined for a residence in Marion County, Florida 34471. Based upon the information, agents conducted a surveillance operation at the residence; upon delivery of the package by the U.S. Postal Service, agents made contact with the homeowner reference a “knock-and-talk.” The homeowner suggested that he was not expecting a delivery, nor was anyone else associated with his residence. At the homeowner’s request, agents collected the package as abandoned property. Further investigation revealed the package contained approximately twenty-one (21) pounds of marijuana.
