On January 1, 2009, Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) police officer Johannes Mehserle tragically killed 22-year-old #OscarGrant. Since that deadly altercation, BART police have killed, assaulted, and harassed dozens of Black Bay area residents. Now, BART Board of Directors is doing everything in their power to punish and criminalize protestors who took to the streets and shut down the BART on Black Friday to demand a higher standard of policing in Bay Area and across the nation. BART is doing everything in their power to force these brave community members to pay up to $70K in fines in addition to criminal charges they face. We wont stand for it. Join Black Lives Matter and The BlackOut Collective in demanding BART drop the fine and criminal complaint.
