On January 24, 1943 a transport from a mental ill hospital at Apeldoornse Bosh with 921 Jews arrived at Auschwitz. There were sick people, children and medical staff. After the selection 16 men and 60 women were registered. The rest of the people were murdered in the gas chambers. You can find out more about Jewish community of Apeldoorn clicking the link. On the same day two other transports arrived. 2029 Jews were brought from Theresienstadt ghetto - 771 men and boys and 1258 women and girls. After the selection 147 men and 80 women were registered in the camp. The rest were killed ion the gas chambers. Another transport came from the Westerbork camp in the occupied Netherlands. From 516 Jewish men, women and children, 18 man and 2 women were registered after the selection. 496 people were killed right after arrival in the gas chambers.
