On July 04, 1776 the thirteen colonies that formed the foundation - TopicsExpress

On July 04, 1776 the thirteen colonies that formed the foundation of these United States of America decided to separate themselves from the grasp of King George III and Declared Independence for reasons that are arguably less superior to the legislative and executive intrusions of the past century. Yet, in the past 50-years of this nation’s existence the abundance of contradictory legislation and policy initiatives enacted by elected officials and the stillness of the citizenry have regrettably galvanized the power of the politician to an innovative but ingenious system of absolutism. To be clear, this centralization of power and thus the usurpation of liberties are not exclusive nor confined to the bureaucracies of federal and state administrators. We the people are not only party to such behavior but perhaps a central theme of this process! Since the turn of the 20th century, one could argue that if Benjamin Harrison, Thomas Jefferson, John Hancock or a fiery Thomas Paine would have endured the usurpation of liberties and the willful disregard of the U.S. Constitution as we are witnessing today, the storm clouds of severance from such powers would be deafening. The proclivity to take decisive action to preserve the unalienable rights proscribed by the Supreme Law of the Land would be difficult, if not impossible to control. This is not to suggest the citizenry partake in actions of violence but to recognize; in order to preserve rights that were endowed by our creator, we have to be willing to live in accordance with the spirit of the Declaration of Independence and ensure our government is restrained by the Constitution. Even so, the frustration of a nation based on these precepts of absolutism and the falsities of "pure democracy" can be tolerated for only so long. What this fleeting commentary illustrates is our uncanny tolerance for a commanding approach to governance, which has become the anti-thesis of the enduring American decree of the rights to Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness. Our inaction and tolerance of such behaviors by those within American society, specifically the very people elected to defend the principals of a Constitutional Republic have reached a point of absolute crisis. Our ignorance coupled with decades of deliberate indoctrination to include the persistent intervention of bureaucracies in the life of the citizen has created a nation that has become a mortal danger to itself. This danger far outweighs the perceived perils of a nuclear capable Iran; Civilizational Jihad under the pretext of a Global Salafist Insurgency; Russian aspirations of old glory and influence; the belligerence of the People’s Republic of North Korea; and the potential hegemon of the People’s Republic of China. This self-inflicted threat can exceed any number of National Security Threats deemed by the "16" intelligence agencies responsible for identifying, assessing, and communicating the legitimacy of threats to the executive branch for action. The greatest threat to the sustainability of the United States as a Constitutional Republic resides not with the military strength of a foreign nation, the aspirations of the global elite, the undying will of the non-state soldier or the power international institutions may or may not possess. The center of gravity of this translucent threat dwells within the confines of the American citizen and those elected to positions of power under the guise of a representative governance. Therefore, America’s projected path makes it an unmitigated threat to itself! Perhaps a more fitting statement is required. Walt Kelly comic strip character Pogo statement, “We have met the enemy and he is us” should serve as a wake call. But in this era of finger pointing and asserting blame, the American public will neither recognize nor understand that the reflection they see every morning while brushing their teeth, putting on makeup and washing their face has created and condoned the very threat that will in due time commandeer every ounce of liberty they have left.
