On July 16, 1790, An Act for Establishing the Temporary and Permanent Seat of the Government of the United States created what is now the District of Columbia. To celebrate, here are The Sweet Heaven Kings of the United House of Prayer in Anacostia, Washington, DC, performing “When the Saints Go Marching In,” and urging the audience to sing and help them “raise the roof” of the Library of Congress.
