On June 17, 2014, an important event in the field of Occupational Therapy took place. The Inaugural World-Japan Kawa Model International Symposium took place at Tokyo University of Technology in Tokyo. With the help of OT4OT & the IT Team at Eastern Washington University (yes, look them up on FB) this full day event was live-streamed around the world, allowing anyone with a broadband connection to participate. Outstanding LIVE presentations were given both in house as well as virtually from as far away as the USA, Australia and Croatia! Dr Susan Burwash and her fantastic Colleagues of OT4OT for taking what ordinarily would be an exclusive Pre-Congress workshop into an Inclusive Worldwide Event. (OT4OT are, but not limited to: Anita Hamilton (AUS); Karen Jacobs (USA); Angela Hook (UK); Merrolee Penman (Aotearoa/NZ); Sarah Bodell (UK); & Susan Burwash (Canada)). Ms Jouyin Teoh for being the Symposium CEO - working tirelessly to see this wonderful Event through to successful finish. Dr Bill Wong, for bringing your enthusiasm and leadership (and saving the day with the technology after OT4OT had to leave early) Professor Kenichi Tsuchisawa, for championing the Kawa Model in its return to its Furusato. Jeff Mastromonico & the entire App Development Team at Georgia Regents University for building a the (Beast!) first Kawa Model App!
