On June 28, the media reported President Obama was going to ask for “$2 billion in emergency funds” to stem the flow of immigrants to our southern borders. Ten days later, he was back with a different figure. On his way to his Texas fundraising tour, where he skipped the border, the president claimed he urgently needed $3.7 billion. Soon. Because the tens of thousands of illegal immigrant minors were overwhelming the federal government’s ability to care for them. Turns out, the real request isn’t for $3.7 billion. Because more spending was added in the request sent to Congress. An additional $615 million for the Agriculture Department is in there. So the new figure is $4.3 billion. Over double the price tag voters were first quoted. Of the $4.3 billion Obama is asking for a mere $25 million is to be spent this fiscal year, which ends in September. So you see, there is no emergency! There’s no need for the billions to be voted on now. Obama’s entire request could be dealt with on a non-emergency basis, when the Senate and House send up their appropriations bills for the next fiscal year. Crisis? Emergency? Gotta have the money now? Lies. Fraud. Deception. A textbook example of how the American people get always get hoodwinked.
