Her biggest hit was “The Loco-Motion,” a No. 1 song in 1962; Ian Paice-drummer for Deep Purple & Whitesnake born in 1948; singer Colin Hay of Men at Work is born in 1953; Don Dokken – lead singer and founder of heavy metal band Dokken born in 1953; and Evelyn “Champagne” King born in the Bronx, N.Y. in 1960. She is discovered at Sigma Studios, where she is a cleaning woman. Her biggest hit is the million-selling top 10 single “Shame” in 1978. On a side note referencing Billy Storm above, note one of his early bands was The Chavelles. Greenville, SC also had a band of the same name in simular time period. In fact, Greenvilles Robert Jones whom owns and operates Robert Jones Pianos on North Main Street was the lead singer and keyboard player.
