On June 6, 1942, Japan delivered a powerful psychological blow by invading and occupying Kiska Island. Canadian and American resources were poured into this new northern front to Get Kiska Back. Planes and pilots were lost in the air war and tens of thousands of troops were prepared for battle. In the end, the Japanese slipped away in the fog undetected by the Allies. Some of this story is told on three panels to be erected this summer on Kiska which is now included in the new World War II Valor in the Pacific National Monument on refuge land. Many thanks to my warrior group who reviewed and found photographs.
