On March 17, 1953, that is 61 years ago I was inducted into the U.S. Army. I had only arrived in the U.S. a year earlier on March 3, 1952. Oddly, I have a n accent still., because I started learn English when I was 13 years old; by then , all my vocal cords had fully developped. I was born in Germany; then learned French starting at 6 years old. I have no accent in French because my voca;l cords had not yet fully developped. My native German, I am told has an accent! I also speak Dutch. The knowledge of four languages not only is helpful surfing the internet, but also landed me a great job with the U.S. Department of State and also insured that I was assigned after basic training into the Military Intelligence as a military intelligence analyst both here in the U.S. and also when I was sent as a U.S. soldier to occupy Germany in l954. Ten years after my induction into the U.S. Army, on March 17, 1963, I met my wife to be. Thus, Saint Patricks Day is a twice anniversary in my personal life. Curently a book authored by a teenager for other teenagers relating my story is in the works.
