On March 24, 2014 at approximately 8:00 a.m. a crash was reported to Metro 911. Callers said a pickup truck struck a pedestrian on Frame Road in the Elkview area. The crash occurred near the entrance to the Elk Crossings Apartment complex. The truck was traveling east, toward U.S. Route 119. The pedestrian had just exited a Kanawha Regional Transportation bus. She was struck by a full-size Dodge pickup truck. She was pronounced dead at the scene. The pedestrian was 21 year old Ashley Whitehair of Elkview. The crash is being investigated by the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office. A reconstruction expert has been assigned the case and was on scene taking measurements, interviewing witnesses, and gathering evidence. The roadway has been closed since first responders arrived, and is still closed at this time (10:50 a.m.). The investigators will look at a multitude of factors that may have played a role in the incident. Included are driver error, pedestrian error, speed, mechanical failure, and the environment. --
