On Monday, Feb. 3 at 10:58 a.m., the St. Croix County Emergency Communications Center received a call from the Union Pacific railroad advising of an accident involving a train and a motor vehicle. This occurred at the railroad cross on 150th Street, just north of CTH TT in Hammond Township. A Union Pacific train was westbound and struck a septic truck that was traveling southbound on 150th Street. The driver of the truck was pronounced dead at the scene by the St. Croix County Medical Examiner. There were no injuries to th occupants on the Union Pacific train. The crossing is signed with a yield sign and railroad crossing sign. The crossing remains closed at this time. The identity of the driver of the truck is being withheld pending notification of the family. This accident remains under investigation by the St. Croix County Sheriffs Office.
