On Monday I lost one of my best friends, Thamsanqa “Makhanda” Majola, due to illness. Though he was a bit older than me, we used to live together and I got piece work at his workplace. I once visited his home and his mother prepared a meal for us, for the first time in my life I ate a braai chicken or chicken prepared over open fire and will forever cherish the moment. The only thing that came next to that experience at the time was a wild Dove prepared the same way. At home we only ate cooked chicken on one of the rare Sundays only or on special visits. May his soul, rest in peace.
