On Monday September 1st, 2014 at approximately 3:50 p.m., Hamilton Police were dispatched to Jackson Square Mall located at 2 King St W for an Assault in Progress. Investigation revealed that Jackson Square Security Officers had dealt with a group of males earlier in the day. The males had been belligerent with the officers and were asked to leave the property. The males complied and left the area only to return a short time later. They were observed inside Jackson Square Mall riding their BMX bicycles. The security officers requested that the males leave the property at which time the males became verbally aggressive. Once outside of the building, however still on Jackson Square property, the males ignored the direction of the officers and refused to leave. The officers left with no other option attempted to arrest the males under the Trespass to Property Act for “Fail to leave when directed”. During the arrest a struggle ensued with one of the males assaulting a security officer by striking him in the face with his fist. The second officer also received a facial injury during the assault. It is believed there were three suspects involved in the incident, one of which may have captured the attack on his cell phone. The suspects fled the area prior to police arrival. The area was checked but they were not located. Both officers were transported to hospital by EMS with non-life threatening injuries. The suspects are described as the following: Suspect One: male white, 15-19 years, wearing a purple shirt. Suspect Two: male white, 15-19 years wearing a white t-shirt and blue jeans. Suspect Three: male white 15-19 years wearing a black t-shirt and blue jeans. The Hamilton Police continue to investigate.
