On Monday the 10 November a Field Day was held on the Model Farm in Vinho as a guide on Conservation Agriculture before the planting season commences: This was by invitation to the leaders (Fumos, Secretaries and Leading Farmers) of the Bebedo Area that borders the Park on the other side of the Pungwe River. The following aspects of Conservation Agriculture were demonstrated: a) Land preparation b) Correct plant spacing and populations c) Compost making d) Planting correctly with compost or fertilizer e) Crop rotations including a legume f) Drip irrigation for vegetables and all year production g) Irrigation with the foot pump system The field day was well attended and lunch was served with cool drink refreshments and a Gorongosa cap presented to the senior representatives of the delegation. Thank you to our Community Relations Department and to our Agricultural Technicians for making the day a success.
